Full Mouth Reconstruction/Custom Dentures/Teeth in One Day

FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION:

There are a number of people who have dental problems throughout their mouths that must be treated comprehensively with a vision of a final result that improves both function and esthetics. These patients may exhibit multiple missing teeth, numerous teeth with large fillings that are failing or exhibiting decay, cracked or broken teeth, or badly worn teeth due to bruxism (teeth grinding) or other habits. There is also a group of patients who were born with conditions such as Ectodermal Dysplasia, Ameliogenesis, or Dentinogenisis Imperfecta that will need extensive restoration of their teeth. These patients may be candidates for a full mouth reconstruction. As the name implies, full mouth reconstruction refers to rebuilding and/or replacing all of the teeth in a patient’s mouth. Full mouth reconstructions combine esthetics with the science of restorative dentistry to improve the health, function, and beauty of the mouth.

Custom Dentures

Dentures are replacements for missing teeth. Complete dentures replace all teeth and removable partial dentures replace some teeth. By matching each individual’s unique smile and bite, dentures can improve facial appearance and self-confidence. Dentures may also improve speech problems caused by missing teeth and will improve chewing. At New Smile Prosthodontics, our in-house lab led by Dr. Paredes will set every single tooth of your new denture when you will have the best esthetics and function of it.

OPTIONS OF TREATMENT FOR A FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION

1) FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS, CROWNS, BRIDGES, DENTURES.

In cases when the patient has teeth that can be saved, but are damaged, short, worn down or with bad angulation, it is possible to correct the problems by placing white porcelain ceramic crowns that will have the right size and shape, vertical dimension and color. If the patient is missing teeth, these can be restored by placing dental implants with natural looking crowns and bridges or dentures.

 2) TREATENT OF MISSING TEETH: TEETH IN ONE DAY

Teeth in one day refers to a procedure in which an implant(s) is placed and a restoration is connected onto the implant the same day follow the surgery. At New Smile Prosthodontics and Center for Advanced Implant Dentistry provides teeth in a day for two particular treatments:

  • A) Anterior Teeth:

It consist of extracting a damaged tooth that can’t be saved, placing an implant once the extraction is done; followed by the fabrication of a temporary crown. All of these procedure are done in one day. After 4-6 months of healing, the final restorations are done.

Note: if a tooth has been removed previously and there is sufficient stabled bone, then it might necessary to first do bone grafting and sometimes gum graft tooth to achieve the best esthetic result.

  • B) ALL-ON-FOUR, ALL-ON-FIVE, ALL-ON-SIX, PERNAMENT DENTURES, FIXED DENTURES – Full Mouth Reconstruction

There are many terms used to describe the same procedure. This option of treatment consist of removing damaged or non-restorable teeth, then placing dental implants and connecting a temporary bridge to the implants all done the same day.

In many instances, the patient is tired of wearing a removable denture and wants to have fixed teeth that don’t have to come out to clean every time they eat. Most importantly, regaining the ability to each a wider variety of food and chew it well is of most importance.

All-on-four indicates that only 4 implants will be placed in the arch to hold the prosthesis. In many instances placing 5 or 6 implants give a peace of mind in case one implant gets damaged or infected the prosthesis will still work.

Benefits of a fixed bridge on implants

When all teeth are missing or in such condition that they need to be replaced, a fixed bridge anchored to dental implants is the best permanent solution.

Before dental implants, there were no fixed solution available for people who lost all their teeth. Today, it is possible to replace a full jaw with dental implants and a fixed bridge that results in a permanent, stable and high esthetic solution.
